FOR MISS JO, FOURTH OF JULY IN SAN FRANCISCO MEANS EATING LOTS OF BARBECUE, GARDENING and the start of the summer’s San Francisco Mime Troupe season !
The Tony-award winning musical comedy act is celebrating its 50th year of bringing social and political satire to audiences in SF parks. This summer, SF Mime’s “Too Big to Fail” takes on, you guessed it, the country’s financial mess and how it happened.
SF Mime is also a study in taking a show on the road. Its stage on wheels with trap doors and hinges make scene changes as inventive and funny as the dialogue and musical numbers.
Today, the free show gets underway @ 1:30 p.m. in Dolores Park in the Mission. (Miss Jo and Jeff can’t wait to see the hijinks next Saturday, July 12, when “Too Big to Fail” comes to Glen Park, across the street.) You can find SF Mime’s summer schedule here.
Here’s a video from last year’s SF Mime Troupe show.

What a lot of fun! Ella Numera Dos & I braved the crowds & security and made it to the US Capitol for the 4th. Nothing like Aretha Franklin, Elmo, Barry Manilow and fireworks to get one’s patriotic blood pumping…
