AFTER THEIR FIRST TWO MONTHS IN FOG CITY LIVING IN A FURNISHED APARTMENT on the Embarcadero with views of San Francisco Bay, Miss Jo’s familia moved to a house on Lone Mountain.
This elaborate staircase— a replica of Rome’s Spanish Steps— was across the street, along with the graceful, sloping lawn of the University of San Francisco’s Jesuit monastery.
The photo was taken during the dry season, but in the spring the stairs are framed with greenery and flowers and become a popular setting for wedding photographs.
