THIS IS THE VIEW OVER MISS JO’S BACK YARD FENCE IN SAN FRANCISCO’s Glen Park, in the City’s south. The SF neighborhood nestled in the distance is Visitation Valley.
The snap, taken around 5 p.m. today, shows how San Francisco’s summer has arrived ! If this were June to early September, the plateau and houses would be obscured in a flume of windy, gray afternoon fog.
The fall temps are mostly warm-to-hot and you can count on brilliant blue skies lasting all day.
However, a little rain would be nice to interrupt this postcard weather. Despite a quick shower last week, the dry season drags on. The winter downpours won’t get rolling for another month or so.
Today was a particularly beautiful San Francisco day.
Or, as Miss Jo’s favorite San Francisco scribe of yore, Mark Twain, wrote today in 1864 to his mother and sister in Virginia :
“You can see by my picture that this superb climate agrees with me,” Twain wrote, according to the
Mark Twain Project archives.

I’m collecting dark clothes, heavier than I would wear in Fresno, for life in San Francisco. I buy nothing now without considering how it will “play” in SF.
According to the weather map in the WaPo, you’re getting a wee bit of a heat wave, correctamundo? Gorgeous backyard view…but then again, you’ve got great views wherever you look in SFO, don’t you?
