LAST YEAR, LIFE CONSPIRED TO KEEP MISS JO FROM ATTENDING SAN FRANCISCO’S annual Nov. 2 Day of the Dead Festival of the Altars in the Mission District’s Garfield Square Park.
That wasn’t the case in 2007, when she and her niece, Ella Dos, took their cameras to the celebration and got swept up in its beauty, symbolism and sentimentality.
Likewise for the part-mournful, part-festive procession that wends its way to the park @ Harrison and 26th from 24th & Bryant.
On this San Francisco Halloween eve, under a full moon, Miss Jo looks back to Dia de los Muertos two years ago as she looks forward to celebrating it again Monday in the Mission.
